How Money Dominates Emotions
PaulPiff set up an experiment where people played a rigged game of monopoly where one person was richer than the other. He did this on order to study how having more money can make you become more of a mean person. They were given twice as much money, and rolled both dice. Obviously, the rich person became more and more wealthy, but they also became more rude. They started showing off their power and dominance throughout the game. When asked the rich person why they won, they rich boasted on the accomplishments they achieved in the game, forgetting the game was rigged. In other studies, Piff gave people $10 and asked if they wanted to give any money to an anonymous stranger. Lower-income people gave more than high-income people. These were random people from the community. In other studies rich people felt more entitled to things and did not care very much for other people. Later in the video Piff speaks about how the American Dream is becoming more unattainable to more people of the population due to the differences between income levels.
I think this ties in with how Tom acts. We all know he is disrespectful and feels the need to control people and situations. I think Daisy also becomes careless due to her wealth.
